Dave's New Life
He was the product of a miracle,
sitting in my office chair;
Brown eyes wet and red from crying,
brushing back his long dark hair.
Dave was not all unique,
tattoos, drugs, the entire scene;
But he knew he needed help,
he needed a place to lean.
Gently an arm slipped around him,
he crumbled and his broken heart poured;
God's love came flooding inward,
as he gave his life to the Lord.
Nothing is as sweet as forgiveness,
Grace is the power to begin again;
A new Christian now holds the Bible,
Jesus Christ has changed another man.
I was there and saw it happen,
I heard him pray the sinner's prayer;
He glowed with a joy from heaven,
There's nothing earthly to compare.
I can't quite comprehend it all,
but I'll share the gospel with another;
For the man who once I never knew,
I now embrace and call him brother!
On March 10th, nineteen hundred-ninety six,
he was baptized at Keauhou Bay;
Dave came up from the water smiling,
and the witness was within to stay.
