A TRUE BELIEVER
Once in awhile I get down right depressed
At the way folk let you down.
I look wide-eyed for a joyful face
But most often I see only frowns.
Then I get upset because so many
Won’t carry their commitment through,
Why, I struggle to get my hope up,
And I know I’m just as bad as you.
Yet then I look at Jackie
With all that she’s faced in life,
And I feel a little ashamed
At how I handle my minor strife.
For she stays poised and patient,
Trusting the Lord with it all,
My faith may have diminished
But her’s doesn’t seem to fall.
Perhaps it shouldn’t be abnormal,
To see one with love as this,
She just looks a lot like we all should,
our Savior, the Lord Jesus.
Jackie has learned a vital lesson,
We all need to learn today,
That is how to trust Him,
And have a secret place to pray.
So there really are true Christians,
Who live it as they should,
And when skeptics start to point,
Say, “here’s one that’s really good.”
I’m not knocking others,
Nor am I boasting of one’s worth,
I’m just saying, here’s an example,
Of one who puts their Savior first.
